PAHL MERCY RULES
OVERVIEW
Games in which a large score differential is established shall enact the adjustments listed below, in accordance with each period of the game. The applications within the Mercy Rule are further explained in the three sections at the bottom of this page.
1ST PERIOD
There shall be no running-clock format implemented in the first period of any league game, regardless of the score differential.
2ND PERIOD +
A running-clock format shall be implemented if a team establishes a lead of 7 goals or greater in the second or third period. Stop-time format shall only be reimplemented in any period if the goal differential is reduced to 4 goals.
3RD PERIOD +
In the event that a team has attained a lead of 10 goals or more at the second intermission or at any point of the third period, the game shall end immediately as a Terminated Game. The score at the time a game is terminated due solely to score differential shall be the final score.
