The Wrap: Lightning Battle Through Busy Weekend Slate
The Lawrence County Lightning hit the ice for a packed weekend of competition from October 10–12, showcasing effort, energy, and determination across all age groups.
The weekend kicked off Friday with the 16U squad earning a strong 3–1 win over the Wilkes-Barre Jr. Pens at Tim Hortons Iceplex. On Saturday, the Lightning continued to roll with a full schedule across multiple rinks. The 10U1 team battled hard in a close 4–3 loss to Westmoreland, while 16U followed with a 5–4 win over Philly Genesis. The 18U team also picked up a big 6–4 victory over Mon Valley Thunder.
Over at RMU Island Sports Center, the 10U2 group faced a tough matchup against the Arctic Foxes, falling 13–0.
Saturday afternoon brought more excitement, as 16U tied the Rochester Jr. Americans 3–3, and 12U earned a 7–5 win over Armstrong Arrows at Hess Ice Rink. Sunday’s action was highlighted by a dominant 16U shutout over the Delco Phantoms (7–0) and a solid 12U win over the Pittsburgh Huskies (5–2).
The weekend concluded with Sunday afternoon contests where 10U1 fell to Wheeling Nailers 9–2 and 16U wrapped things up with a 5–1 loss to Rochester.
Despite the ups and downs, the Lightning organization showed strong development, teamwork, and competitive fire throughout the weekend. The season continues next week as all teams look to build on their efforts and keep the momentum rolling.
