12U2 Seals up 2nd Place Finish in Three Rivers Cup
(Pittsburgh, PA) The Lawrence County Lightning 12U2 team competed in the Three Rivers Cup from November 7-9, 2025, playing four games and fighting their way to the championship final. The team finished the weekend with a record of 1 win, 1 tie, and 2 losses.
Game 1: Hard-Fought Tie vs. Rocky River (2-2)
The Lightning kicked off their tournament on November 7 against Rocky River , battling to a 2-2 tie at the BAIERL ICE COMPLEX World. Lawrence County found themselves behind early. Rocky River scored late in the first period, with Charles Bruckman netting the goal. Rocky River extended their lead in the second period, making it 2-0 with a goal from Ryan Otting. In a third-period surge, the Lightning fought back. Walker McAnlis got Lawrence County on the board with a goal at 6:39, assisted by Chase Stanton and Knoxx Lohr. Just under four minutes later, Jackson Alger scored the equalizer at 2:40, with the assist going to Walker McAnlis, securing the 2-2 draw. Lawrence County outshot Rocky River by a significant margin, 16-11.
Game 2: Tough Loss to Loudoun Knights (0-7)
Later that evening, the Lightning faced the Loudoun Knights 13-14 B CBHL 25-26 at Frozen Pond Arena, suffering a 7-0 defeat.The Loudoun Knights' offense was relentless, opening a four-goal lead in the first period. Loudoun's scoring was paced by Leif Hansen, Elijah Hamrick, Oliver Hanus, and Ari Diem. Loudoun added another goal in the second and two more in the third to finish the shutout. The Lightning struggled to generate offense, registering only 5 shots on goal for the entire game, compared to Loudoun's 36. Richard Panella and Camden Morton each received a body-checking minor penalty for the Lightning during the game.
Game 3: Shutout Victory vs. Jamestown Lakers (1-0)
On Saturday morning, November 8, Lawrence County secured a crucial 1-0 victory against the Jamestown Lakers 13-14 B MOHL 25-26 at Frozen Pond Arena. The game remained a defensive battle through two periods with no goals16. Lawrence County’s goaltender, Anabella Haroldson, was a stalwart in net, facing 8 total shots on goal. The only goal of the game, which proved to be the game-winner, came in the third period at 3:08. Jackson Alger scored the short-handed goal, his second of the tournament, with an assist from Camden Morton. The Lightning offense dominated the shot totals with 34 shots on goal.
Game 4: Championship Final vs. Loudoun Knights (0-5)
The Lawrence County Lightning 2 advanced to the final round, a playoff game on November 9, 2025, where they faced the Loudoun Knights once again. Despite a great run to the championship, the Lightning fell to the Knights with a 5-0 final score at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center. The Loudoun Knights took a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Oliver Hanus (the GWG) and Jack Herring. The second period remained scoreless. Loudoun then sealed their victory in the third period with three goals from Oliver Hanus, Jack Herring, and Julia Malarcher. The Lightning's Jackson Alger received a slashing minor penalty late in the third period.
